Mindfulness Through Movement
Experience a guided, slow, moving meditation, for relaxation and body/mind awareness. This is an opportunity to learn “what moves us” and how we have infinite choices in how we move through life. This class can free your body to move with ease and grace while bringing joy to your mind.
The luminous works of Tibetan art are rich in symbolism that transport us into a realm of inspiration and clarity. We will view many works of art and learn about what the symbols portray as a means to leading us to a place of greater peace and understanding.
Meditation & Mantra
Designed for students of all levels, this meditation class uses chanting and visualization to aid in quieting the mind. This allows for a natural flow into meditation, and helps to access a deeper level of awareness and calm.
This yoga class is designed for all levels, incorporating breathing, stretching, and fluid movements. The postures and techniques help to stabilize and calm the nervous system, strengthen muscles, and tone the organs, bringing more ease and circulation throughout the body. You can expect to feel more relaxed, aware, and creative from this yoga practice.
In this communication class, we use remarkably simple, yet unique, interpersonal techniques to move from “me” to “we”. Practice new listening skills, and discover your innate ability to cultivate the feeling experience of connection with others.
Sacred Art Playshop
Coloring images of the Tibetan inspirational beings helps us to connect with the energies they convey. The Buddha helps us to directly touch a place of calm and clearness. Tara, in a female form, leads us to embody compassion. Sarasvati inspires creative endeavors in the arts, from painting and writing, to music and dance.
Using gentle, meditative movements in the tradition of Moshe Feldenkrais, Shari guides participants in the conscious exploration of ease and grace. Redirecting the energy behind tension, hesitation, and anxiety, we awaken the physical expression of creative freedom.
This session includes writing exercises to stimulate reflection, imagination, and honest expression. There will be opportunities for individuals to share their writing with the group.
Shari Sunshine has a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine from World Medicine Institute, Honolulu, HI, and is a Licensed and Certified Massage Therapist. She has taught Mindful Movements and Healing Qi Gung for three decades. She is the founder of Syntropy Insight Bodywork, an awareness-based healing art.
Rosalyn White has studied meditation and Tibetan art under the guidance of the Tibetan Buddhist teacher, Tarthang Tulku, for over forty years. She holds a BFA in Fine Arts from the California College of Art and a teaching credential from UC Berkeley. She is currently Co-Director of Ratna Ling and has been teaching classes in meditation and sacred art for over 25 years. The depth and breadth of the Tibetan teachings have had a profound influence on her life, and inspired her to share her knowledge in order to help others to find the beauty and purpose in their lives. Her goal is that in your time with her you will get in touch with a stiller, deeper part of yourself and a gain sense of health and balance.
Gloria Baraquio, a Hawaii native, has been teaching vinyasa since 2006 and studying Tibetan Buddhism since 2004. She earned her 200-hour certificate from Yoga Hawaii with Rupali Embry and Tania Jo Ingrahm and studied with Raghunath Cappo and Radhanath Swami for her 300-hour teacher training. For 4 years, Gloria served as the Wellness Director of The Springs in Downtown Los Angeles, managing the yoga studio and wellness center. Gloria is passionate about making yoga and meditation accessible to all, and she is currently a Lead Teacher for Shivakali Yoga, facilitating teacher trainings and retreats throughout the world. Her aim is to help others cultivate an intimate relationship with themselves and their surroundings so that they can live more fully, with love, peace, gratitude and well-being.
Christine DeCristofaro, LMFT is a Marriage & Family Therapist and holds a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and is a certified Civil and Family Law mediator and instructor. Christine sees herself as the ultimate servant and teacher, one who empowers people to realize their hidden potential and provides support in whatever capacity needed. She believes when people are empowered they make better decisions, discipline their own behavior, and work more effectively with each other. Creating opportunities for experiences, which unite: self-interests and personal values with the concerns of their friends and family, work relationships, and community. Her motto: “Integrity, right work, and compassion in all things for others and myself.”
