This retreat combines meditation, movement, and informative classes to help increase awareness in body and mind and peacefully guide you through the changes of the new season. This is a great opportunity to relax, rejuvenate, and get away from it all at our serene retreat center, nestled in the secluded redwoods of Northern California. Learn life-affirming skills that will help keep you balanced in your everyday life.

Guided Meditation Practice
Designed for students of all levels, this meditation class focuses specifically on your health and quieting your mind. The emphasis will be on technique and sitting practice to experience the benefits of meditation.

Kum Nye-Tibetan Yoga
Kum Nye is an ancient healing system that creates a balance between body and mind. Working with breath and exercises, it helps to relieve stress, transforms negative patterns, and increases energy. We will learn a short sequence you can practice at home.

Mindfulness Through Movement
Experience a guided, slow, moving meditation, for relaxation and body/mind awareness. This is an opportunity to learn “what moves us” and how we have infinite choices in how we move through life.  This class can free your body to move with ease and grace while bringing joy to your mind.

Moving the Six Perfections with Kum Nye and Mindful Movement
This class will explore the six Buddhist perfections of generosity, ethics, patience, enthusiastic perseverance, meditation, and wisdom. We will do  movement-based exercises that will allow us to embody these ideals.

Sacred Tibetan Art
Have you ever wondered what the symbols, colors, and objects mean in Tibetan art? Ratna Ling’s professional thangka painter will discuss the symbolism in this profound artistic and spiritual expression.

Healing Qi Gung
Coming from the ancient Chinese practice of combining breath and regenerative movement, this class will begin by balancing the elements in the body and the mind.

Movement for Healthy Joints
Movement is key to living a long and healthy life. This class will warm your body and allow it to reveal how it most wants to move by presenting sustainable practices that will ensure your comfort and longevity.

Expressive Art
Authentic creation and self-expression are cornerstones of Expressive Art. This class will be an opportunity to uncover and integrate self, especially those aspects that are often unconscious or misunderstood.

Faculty

judithJudith Caldwell, Ed.D. holds an MST (Master of Science in Teaching) from The University of Chicago, and certification in Art Therapy from the New School of Social Research in New York City. She also holds two Masters Degrees from the University of Santa Monica, one in Spiritual Science and one in Spiritual Psychology. Dr. Caldwell was a former professor in the Education Department at Central Connecticut State University and has taught classes at Stanford University. She was an inspirational co-founding pioneer of Stonebridge, the successful Charter School in Napa Valley, California.

 

 

Dorothee Meier, MA, ATR, holds a Masters Degree in Psychology from Sonoma State University and a Masters Degree in Education with a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Phillips University, Marburg, Germany. She is also a Registered Professional Art Therapist. She is an accomplished and respected instructor and clinician with over 25 years of achievement and success in educational and therapeutic environments. In the United States Dorothee has continued her work with others as a Counselor, Art Therapist, and most recently as a Social Worker for St. Vincent’s Foster Family and Adoption Agency in San Rafael, California.

 

 

ShariShari Sunshine has a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine from World Medicine Institute, Honolulu, HI, and is a Licensed and Certified Massage Therapist. She has taught Mindful Movements and Healing Qi Gung for three decades. She is the founder of Syntropy Insight Bodywork, an awareness-based healing art.

 

 

Rosalyn White has studied meditation and Tibetan art under the guidance of the Tibetan Buddhist teacher, Tarthang Tulku, for over forty years. She holds a BFA in Fine Arts from the California College of Art and a teaching credential from UC Berkeley. She is currently Co-Director of Ratna Ling and has been teaching classes in meditation and sacred art for over 25 years. The depth and breadth of the Tibetan teachings have had a profound influence on her life, and inspired her to share her knowledge in order to help others to find the beauty and purpose in their lives. Her goal is that in your time with her you will get in touch with a stiller, deeper part of yourself and a gain sense of health and balance.
