Palo Alto Mind and Body Retreat FAQ’s

We’re roughly three hours north, depending on traffic through the city and up the coast. Most Peninsula guests treat it as a long weekend trip, leaving Friday and coming home Sunday feeling noticeably more settled.

It’s a nice drive once you’re past the city and into wine country, then out to the redwoods near Cazadero. Cell service fades out as you get closer, which tends to be exactly what people need after weeks of being reachable around the clock.

Not at all. A lot of our guests from Palo Alto and the tech world in general have never tried either before. Each retreat page notes the pace and any experience recommended, but most programs are built with beginners in mind.

Coming by yourself is very common, especially for people driving up from Palo Alto who just want space to think without an agenda. You’ll get plenty of solo time, plus the option to connect with other guests during shared meals and sessions.

Bring layers. Palo Alto weather is usually mild, but it can get cooler here at night than you’d expect, especially under the redwoods. Comfortable clothing for yoga or walking, a water bottle, and something warm for the evenings should cover you.

Cost depends on the specific retreat, its length, and what’s included. Each retreat listed above has its own page with current pricing and booking details.

It changes weekend to weekend, but expect some mix of yoga, meditation, breathwork, mindful movement, and time outdoors. Some retreats also include journaling, group discussion, or open personal time. The specific retreat page will lay out the full schedule.

It’s one of the main reasons people come up from Palo Alto and the South Bay. Between long hours and constant notifications, guests often arrive feeling maxed out and leave with a clearer head. There’s no signal pressure here, just space to actually unplug.

Most guests drive up from Palo Alto since we’re in a fairly rural spot, but some carpool with others heading to the same retreat or arrange a rideshare for part of the trip. Reach out to us directly and we can help you figure out the best option.
